I am pleased to announce a new exciting opportunity in July of 2013. My format has changed. I have added a wildflower expert and geologist to further our understanding of the San Juan Mountains. This will truly be a "Field Adventure"! The emphasis will be on outdoor learning as well as photography.
Invitation: Steve Traudt discovered this Gem of the Rockies on a 1975 vacation and it has mesmerized him ever since. At 7,800 feet, Ouray is a sanctuary of unforgettable beauty. Towering cliffs rise 5,000 feet above the tiny town. Ouray is nestled in the San Juans, the most rugged range of the Rockies. Although the gold mines are now mostly quiet, the views are still worth a million dollars. Following old mine and mule trails, we travel this alpine paradise via special 4x4 vehicle.
We will explore alpine tundra, ghost towns, waterfalls and soaring peaks. From giddy heights to the verdant wildflower basins, the vistas are breathtaking. This adventure is especially timed for the famous wildflower explosion of Ouray, a stunning highlight. You're invited to experience this truly special place.
Details: The adventure begins Wednesday morning, July 17, with a get acquainted brunch and concludes Saturday morning, July 20. Each day features a stunning field trip into the surrounding high country. One day includes the services of a geologist who will explain the amazing terrain. Another day features a local wildflower expert. Throughout it all, Steve and his assistant Dick will provide photography help.
Our lodging partner is the Ouray Chalet Inn Chalet Inn which is holding rooms. Just call Lora at 800-924-2538.
This adventure is open to anyone with an interest in alpine scenery, geology, botany, photography, etc. The main emphasis is on learning and enjoying the San Juans. Maybe you are a budding rockhound or a landscape painter? An avid photographer or a wildflower nut? If so, you will have the time of your life as SynVis takes learning to a "higher" level!
Register soon for this special experience! Limited Space.
The price is $649 which includes jeep transportation each day; a welcome brunch, driver gratuity, and all instruction from our resource experts.
Other Notes Elevations of over 13,000 feet are encountered. Roads are rough and rocky. This is a non-smoking workshop.
Only Happy Campers, Please.
Optional: Join Steve on July 16 for an all-day private field trip as he visits his favorite spots. Limited to 3 people. $185 extra, per person.
